Happy Mother’s Day: To All Women

on May 9, 2011
I send this hopeful greeting out, not only to current mothers, but to all women. When Mother’s Day comes around each year, I like to use the day as an opportunity not merely to celebrate mothers, but to also recognize the special divine nature of women.

Women are, by nature, better suited to nurturing and care-giving than men. Is this to say that women are better than men? Not at all. We are necessarily different. The nature of men is to preside and protect. These qualities of our respective divine natures are meant to prepare us with a perspective of our individual responsibilities.
Whereas women share common inborn tendencies toward tender traits, we each have our respective strengths and talents that make us different. We are each special and unique. Every woman has something only she can do.
What kinds of things have you been spending your time on recently? Do you feel like those things are what God wants you to be doing?
When God asks you to do something, it’s because you can do it better than anyone else can. With your unique gifts, God has a personal life mission for you. You will only fulfill that mission if, first – you have the desire to fulfill your life mission, second – you believe you can fulfill it, and third – you are willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. You must also come to know God. Develop a strong relationship with him. Speak to him, and he will guide you in your personal mission. He is the only one who can tell you what that mission is. He is the only one who knows. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
I hope these thoughts will direct you toward constructive positive introspection and change. We all fall short of perfection and must regularly evaluate ourselves in order to continue progressing. God loves you. He wants you to be happy. If you are willing to give up anything and everything to him, true happiness will be yours.
